Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, a German film director and screenwriter. He was born on May 2, 1973, in Cologne, Germany.

Henckel von Donnersmarck is best known for his Academy Award-winning film “The Lives of Others” (2006), which tells the story of an East German Stasi officer who becomes increasingly disillusioned with his job as he monitors a playwright and his girlfriend. He has also directed other notable films such as “The Tourist” (2010) and “Never Look Away” (2018).

In addition to his work in film, Henckel von Donnersmarck has also served as a professor of directing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Germany.
